It's a shame: They all have to go to FSU now and deal with FSUZeta. Those poor kids.

It hasn't hurt UVa or William and Mary in Virginia, so I think UF will also benefit....

or even worse, they will have to go to ucf and deal with adpiucf!!!
actually,they'd be lucky if they went there-i don't know of a more panhellenically minded campus than ucf.
seriously, u of f's admissions has gotten more restrictive, but i know many, many kids whose first choice is ucf, fsu, and usf. they had the grades, but the other schools appealed to them. some years back u of f concentrated on recruiting nat'l merit scholars-now they are not offering as many nat'l merit scholarships and are not offering as much money to nat'l merit scholars as before.
i don't feel that it will have any impact on recruitment. what it may impact is a chapters gpa-to the positive.

I didn't say it would hurt UF, I'm all for my state's flagship to be more selective. Plus, it's tough to put UF and UVa/W&M in the same category, because the latter two have ALWAYS been highly selective...UF's only gotten that way in the past four years or so. In my IB class, most people felt as if admission to UF was owed to them. I think everyone knows better to do that with UVa/W&M.
I applied to W&M, and UF, but turned both down. Liked them, but not enough to turn down my dream school. Alum, I'm sure you'd approve...

Same thing with UGA! I couldn't believe the students I had who were turned down by UGA this year... and it was crazy how many 4.0s, strong activities, etc. I saw when I was writing recs. This is so awesome for the SEC!!!

I remember being in a department store dressing room with a bunch of other UCF sorority new members that I didn't know and throwing whites over the dressing room doors to one another as we frantically searched for a decent fit!
One of my alpha class sisters (teeny tiny girl!) ended up buying a children's size 12 white dress for our ceremony--- she looked like a doll in that little white dress!

I remember doing this. There was NOTHING left in any of the stores. Girls were pulling white dresses off the hangers and buying them without trying them on. I needed an inexpensive, white dress which was impossible to find after Labor Day. I bought one that was 2 sizes too big and settled for using safety pins on the dress whenever I had to wear it. Other girls bought their dresses in the sleepwear department. Nothing is cuter than having a ritual dress that looks like a mumu.

I do! I'm a strong supporter in students attending their reach and/or dream schools.

Aw thanks... just imagine my culture shock when I became an adviser at another school. I was flabbergasted. "What do you mean you don't have friends in any other chapters?!" That was our way of life!

//hijack...
This actually happened to me, but not on purpose. Back in my day, we weren't told when initiation would be... we were asked to pack our "whites" and give them to our Big Sister to hold. When it was time for initiation, we were given 10 minutes to dress and get ready. Imagine my horror when I found my skirt too wrinkled to wear! So, I wore my skirt as a slip and my slip as a skirt. I can't tell you how many compliments I got on my "skirt!" When I told everyone that it was my slip, it became a huge joke! In fact, the seniors left me an iron in the "senior wills" that year.
//end hijack.

What about the other sororities? I've heard 3 didn't make quota so far. I was hoping all would make quota. We should have with the numbers A lot of girls dropped out or were cut completely. That is not fair to me. All girls should be invited back for each round somewhere. These are my thoughts.
Go Greek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
