As far as leads go, no one really knows. I heard about the missing girl over the weekend. I'm hoping that it is just a rumor and I think that it could be. My friend lives in Brightside and that is what she heard. I also heard it from a friend of a friend (you know how that is) who knows someone on the task force. BTW, a couple of detectives from the task force are coming to talk to us. I'll let ya'll know if they say anything impt.
There are more rumors out there than the truth it seems. When Pam Kinamore was missing, people swore that there were two other women missing and that wasn't the case. I think that with this media that acts like the lives of these women are nothing more than a soap opera, they would have found out the scoop by now.

I didn't hear about the other missing girl, but I'm pretty sure its just a rumor.
Looks like Carrie Yoder is #5 for the serial killer - that they've conclusively connected with DNA.
Scary scary scary.
I like how they're passing out targets for women to wear. We're all targets.

I wonder if they have considered using any decoys. They surely have gathered enough information for a "profile" of what attracts him. They could have some women set up apts. in the area, duplicate activities and try to snag him.
The problem is that in several past cases, it was just dumb luck that led to an arrest. How do you find one man in the midst of a population like Baton Rouge???
I hope you are right about the missing girl being a rumor. Considering the amount of time one of my daughter's roommates is gone, it could be several days before anyone would consider her missing.
Last night I woke up in a cold sweat. I was startled out of sleep by the image of her being attacked. Even her Dad, (who is more realistic than most) is becoming nervous and agitated with the
inability of the police to catch this maniac. I have to believe the police are doing everything they can... I HAVE to believe it.
edited to add-Angels&Arrows They won't tell everything they have, but while I was searching on the net, I discovered they called Sylvia Brown (physic) and she "saw" what kind of job he might have and some other incidental things they will not release to the public.

I have a friend that's a news reporter for one of the BR stations and she tells me that there's lots of infighting between the EBR Parish sheriff and the BR police - they all want "their man" to catch the guy, and because of this they're not sharing all their info. She also says that the "Serial Killer Task Force" is a sham, they just created it to look like they were doing something.
I'm very happliy commuting right now. Even though my transmission is going wonky and it might be kinda pricey to fix it. I'd still rather live at home with mommy, and have someone know and care about where I am all the time. Its not like I have time to go out and have fun, so its just easier (and safer) to live like a HS student again :S

That makes me sick!!!! No wonder we haven't found this killer! The media and the police need to work together and of course ALL authorities need to work together. This isn't some kind of game!!!
I do have a little bit more faith in the task force. But, don't even get me started on Governor Foster- a person who I usually agree with. It's about time he does something worthwhile instead of just telling women to buy guns. He's a little late- isn't over 37 dead women enough to get him to pressure the authorities for answers and help any way he can? Like Justamom said a long time ago, if it were men being murdered, would the killer be found by now? Something tells me if it were bald men riding Harley's being murdered he would have exausted all avenues for finding the killer.

Hey y'all, I haven't written in a while, but I just want to say I am beyond furious with the local law inforcement. I don't know where to begin! For starters, I haven't seen LSU do at least ONE thing to protect the students that have night classes. The campus is still very dimly lit, and the campus police are not patroling. Furthermore, I live off campus and I have yet to see police patroling my neighborhood. But, I do have to say, they are still hiding out in bushes trying to give speeding tickets. I feel like they are doing a half-a$$ job at trying to catch this guy. The way that they provide the public with information is sickining. They come on TV asking everyone to "stay tuned" the next day at noon because they will share new info. about the case. Why don't they tell us right then what the heck is going on??!! This isn't the latest reality show or soap opera! I get the feeling it's more of a publicity thing for the cops.
I know of a girl who felt she was being followed for a few days, and went home to her parents house. Her parents were out of town, and someone knocked on the door. She went outside, (I know, an EXTREMELY STUPID thing to do) she says she wasn't scared because she brought her phone and mace. He said his name, and told her that he was from some company and started asking her questions. He was very polite and asked when her parents would be back home. She told him, and went back inside the house. She said he looked like a normal guy, and wasn't pushy or intimidating. He was in a new blue ford F-150, or F-250, and it didn't have a license plate on it. She told her dad and he called the company that the man said he was from, and they said that no one worked there by that name. She went in and told the cops this week, and they told her not to go back to her parents house for 2 weeks. Why don't they set up a private dectective to follow her and see if this guy shows up????
I wonder sometimes, who's going to be next? How many more is it going to take? ONE is too many, and now we are at FIVE known women dead? Something tells me if the police cheif's (Pat Englade), or any other high official's wife or daughter was next, that would be enough for these ridicoulous excuse for cops to finally get their heads out of their a$$es, and we'd have this guy in no time. Why is that????

interesting article in the reveille...
I had heard about all the other ones dealing with women with ties to LSU- the five known victims, christine moore, Kassie, Geralyn Desoto, Eugenie Boisfontaine. But these too were new to me.... I mean 1981, that was before I was born and 85 I was a toddler!
1. Eleanor Parker
Nov. 10, 1981 — Student Eleanor Parker, 19, disappears while driving to her apartment on Gardere Lane. Police found her car on the side of the road one week later near the former downtown Goudcheaux’s, Parker’s place of employment. Officials said there was no evidence of a struggle. She has not been found, and no leads have developed since her disappearance.
2. Melissa Montz
Oct. 4, 1985 — Geology graduate student Melissa Montz, 27, disappears during a jog on Brightside Lane. Her skeletal remains are found Nov. 25 near the LSU golf course, south of the Nicholson-Burbank Extension.

Speaking of the Reveille, in today's issue, the "Campus Safety" issue, it said that LSU will NOW always have AT LEAST 3 campus police officers patroling campus at any given time. WHAT???!!!!! Do they reailze how HUGE LSU is?? What good are 3 rent-a-cops going to do??? And moreover, what the heck made them wait so long to start patroling???
Also, the LSUPD Captian is quoted in the Reveille as saying, "We are starting saturation patrols so we'll have a more visible presence....we can't do this forever, we have to get back to a mode of normalcy at some point because we have to give the officers time off eventually to shower and sleep."
HELLO!!!!! Ever heard of having the cops work shifts?? Five women are dead because the cops shower and sleep too much!
What idiots!!

hey big sis........ get back to work!! just kidding.
interesting thought i had....
everyone has heard what Natalie Maines (Dixie Chick) said about Pres. Bush. She was ashamed the pres. was from TX. Whether you agree with the Pres or not- I'd like to tell Natalie that I, being from Louisiana, would have gladly taken Gov. Bush as our gov. a few years ago in exchange for old man Foster. It is safe to say that Bush would have responed more quickly to the threat of a serial killer and this animal would probably be fried by now.

I'd just to say that being from the DC area and knowing first hand how it feels to have a serial kiler in your midst, I really worry about everyone from LSU and beyond.
You all are in my thoughts and I have faith they will find these people. Or person.
Just remember that you need to be safe no matter what it takes. Listen to your intuition and don't be afraid to look stupid if it means protecting yourself/being safe.
Us in DC were told to not walk in straight lines because the sniper could have you as his target. I didn't sit in my car waiting for my take out food to be ready, I altered my activities significantly due to this and was scared.
Very scared.
Listen to that scared feeling and do whatever it takes to not be scared.

While I support Gov. Foster and the TOPS program, how many women are going to die while at LSU (Or USL for that matter) getting their free college education? Granted, none of the victims have been undergrads on TOPS at LSU...yet.

I don't have an opinion about Gov. Foster, but some of the things he says are ridiculous. When asked about the recent killings, he said that he recommended that women buy guns and carry them at all times. WHAT???!!!
Are we supposed to just shoot any man we see now too??? Then the police proceed to tell us that a conceled weapon is against the law, and guns are not allowed on campus. Some people really need to get their heads out of the clouds and come down to Earth. I'm getting worried because spring break is coming up and this guy is bound to make a move.

HELLO Theta'sBigSis!
At this time, I wish the girls had a guy living in the apartment.
I'm more worried about the summer. People just seem more laid back and that worries me. My daughter actually talked bout being scared. She is SO determined to be "brave" and talk like she's got it covered... If they don't catch him, it WILL continue.
Can someone refresh my memory? Did any of the victims live in an apartment or were they all houses?
Maybe if WE put our minds together, we could give them something to think about. I'm all for anything. Those bloodhounds were a good idea. Why don't they bring them back?
Why ISN'T LSU using more patrol officers?
Are they checking video at Winn Dixie, or is it taped over by the time they discover a person is missing?
I also agree with the profile that SOMEBODY knows SOMETHING!
If any of those older cases ARE related, that would put the guy in the 40 year old category give or take a few.
LAST night, I dreamed I SAW him...I've got to get a grip on this or I'll drive myself nuts. If I could, I'd have her transfer. YES, I know these aren't rational thoughts... I just can't help it.

The "task force" just held a conference today at 2pm. Basically, they said the person could be white, mixed races, or black. Also, he may or may not drive a white truck. Well, we all could have guessed that!!!! Now, it really makes me uneasy because they are widening their search. Now, I"m thinking just when we thought we were moving along, now we are back at square one in finding this guy. It's almost as if they are saying, "We know this guy....he either HAS basic cable in his home, or he KNOWS OF SOMEONE who HAS basic cable.....we'll have this guy in no time...."
I'm so frustrated!
