thanks so much katydidKD! I like the "small" ones that are probably only about 3 or 4 feet; the handheld ones. they're super cute and work well if you don't have much storage space haha

Somebody please clue me in...are these letters all hand-painted? They look AMAZING!!! The AOPi letters are incredible...I especially love the red/white ones. Is there an easy way of transferring these images onto the letters, or do people just freehand them? Thanks for any insight!

I would say all of these are hand-painted. The letters my chapter uses (the Vera Bradley Hope Garden pattern) were first freehanded in pencil by an art major in our house, and we did a paint-by-number system so more of us could get involved and finish them faster.
Another thing that we've done for other projects (not letters) is use a projector to put the image onto the item to be painted. We then outlined the image in pencil and painted it from there. You could do this with any sort of projector- overhead, digital- things like that. They even make special art projectors for this purpose!

You can freehand a pattern onto them by looking at a picture of what you want. You can also use a projector to project the pattern onto the letters, trace the pattern on, then paint it in.
