I go to a small school in Ohio, and we have an all-local campus. I can't imagine spending 2400 on rush! I think our rush budget has to be under 1000. We had 200 some girls rush this year, quota was 18. We have 6 sororities on campus. First round is open house, then invites are extended to Novelty Parties, which are themed and generally casual dress. Girls may be extended up to 6 novelty invites but my only accept 4. Then comes Final Party round. Girls may be extended 4 invites but only accept 2, with the understanding that accepting a final invite expresses a deep interest in those sororities. Suiciding is very very common on my campus, and while discouraged, it's not punished. It seems that most people either get their first choice or none at all... I've never heard any girl say that she got her second choice.
