I live 20 mins outside of Dallas, but I work in Plano. I agree DONT live downtown. There is so much crime there!!! There are plenty of great areas outside of Dallas. It really depends on where you work/go to school. Addison, Las Colinas, Plano-all GREAT cities with fantastic apartments, dining, and shopping.
