This was what we did at Ole Miss, too. The pass always started with the chapter president.
1st time- friendship*
2nd time- lavaliere, which we called being "dropped"
3rd time- engaged
4th time- married
* Just to clarify, though, the first time around was for our forever friendship with our Theta sisters, not because you were friends with a new guy
(how long do THOSE last anyway!)
I think men who are not in a fraternity give their girlfriend a pearl instead of a lavaliere, so it would still be 2 times around.
