Its not over forever
its just over for now, you
Said and my blood ran cold
Despite the warmth of the Summer
Sun on my back.
I looked away from your eyes and
Saw the beauty of the place, the
beautiful garden you chose to
break my heart in.
The tulips were everywhere.
Purple and Pink and Yellow and impossibly
Green.
They danced naively in the breeze
Happy just to be alive.
I looked back at you and tried not
to hear the words you spoke
I sent a silent Prayer to the tulips
Please, give me just a little bit
of your absolute Joy, just
Enough to get me through this
Day.
You wanted Time. Needed Time.
To get your life together, you said.
But time is not kind and time does not
Wait for anyone. Least of all
You who has broken my heart before
and who would likely do it again if I gave
You half a chance.
I looked to the tulips for inspiration and
Found the strength I needed in their
Joyous reach for the sun. No. I said to
You who only a short time ago I called my
Love and my life. This time I will not
Wait. This time I am going to walk
Away and when the sun sets on this
Day, so it will set on us.
