It's called a "Streetcar" in these parts, Tom.
Seriously, though, a streetcar ride on both the St. Charles Ave. and Canal St. lines is an absolute must if you're coming down here for the first time.
Also, you'll want cafe' au lait and beignets at Cafe' du Monde. There's nothing quite like it.
I can recommend lots more, but that would take up more space than GC has right now.
