I was walked back to the house many a night, no matter whether drunk or sober, by a certain fraternity that prided themselves on being gentlemanly. This was the only one out of quite a few fraternities on campus that I ever heard about doing this, although I am sure others probably did too.

My school also offered a SafeWalk type program although I don't recall many people I know using it --- it may be gone now.
