Well, I guess I am speaking from my experience of watching the movie. I had NEVER gone through such emotional changes as I went through watching that movie as I have any other movie. I think any dramatization that takes a person through that much should be recognized. I have felt strong emotions from watching other movies and those that stirred my imagination and made me truly feel the message usually were ones that The Academy recognized as Oscar worthy films.

Of course, there is the possibility that my spiritual connection to the subject matter has something to do with it, but it has been said many times that other people who were of other religious backgrounds and faiths were very emotionally moved by the film as well. I just feel that it should have at least been nominated, if for no other reason than the effect it had on people, good and bad.
