FOR GREEKS - Biggest Mistake?

I saw this thread and was AMAZED by the thought process of some of the "interests" that want to join your organizations. Obviously, there are those that totally go about it in the wrong fashion, but here was the question that I have:

In the NPC we have recruitment (formal or informal), and a lady can just show up without knowing anything or anyone about the organization and possibly get a bid. Let's say Susie Sophomore is interested in joining a particular NPHC organization, and peruses the website of the said group. The website says that in order to be given an invitation to become part of intake, interested ladies must attend the Rush event. Now she doesn't know any of the members, or is aware that she could attend their events beforehand. However, she has a good GPA, has done some community service (on her own) and carries herself well. She attends the Rush event. Would she be looked down upon (and possibly not given an invite) because she didn't know any of the members, and had not previously attended their events?

Since the NPHC and NPC have some differences in recruitment/intake styles, I just wanted to better understand how this process works. Any feedback would be appreciated.
