No, because it was started by college women on the undergraduate level and there are some undergrads who have made significant contributions. Maybe requirements for undergraduate membership should be more stringent rather than just eliminating it.

What ARE the national programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.? How have they differed Through the Years?

The national programs are: Health, The Black Family, Education, Economics and The Arts. When I was in high school I remember some of the programs being a relationship with the Red Cross, a Washington, DC presence and a math and science program. One change I"ve noticed is I think that the education target has been extended beyond math and science to literacy and tutoring for example.

What, in your honest opinion, is the purpose of a sorority? Now, how does it relate to the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha? Are they aligned? And do you believe that they HAVE to be aligned in order for you to join the organization? [/B]
In my opinion the purpose of a sorority is for collegiate women to build bonds and have relationships like SISTERS. Also to implement ways to strengthen and empower young girls and women. It relates to the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha however with the emphasis being on black women. So yes they are aligned. (The last part of this question is tricky. I need to think about it and come back.)
