Representatives from area charities and schools lined the stairs of Tigert Hall on Monday afternoon to accept $12,000 from the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

The money was raised during the fraternity’s 22nd annual Blue and White Weekend, held July 4-10. With events such as exhibition step shows, a free barbecue, a gospel extravaganza and a basketball tournament, the fundraiser attracted about 10,000 guests from all over the nation, member Marvin Prier said.
