My daughter went to FSU this Fall knowing she wanted to join a sorority but not knowing much about the sororities other than what she had read/seen on the FSU Greek Life site.

During recruitment, she told me that she felt that there was a sorority for anyone who truly wanted to be in one. Each day, as she got to see the young women interacting, her impressions of sororities changed until she knew her top three choices.

While Tri Delta was not one of the ones she felt was the best fit for her (although she is a blonde, attractive, and smart!), her impression of the sorority changed dramatically from day one when she felt she could never be tan enough, fit enough, or always looking good enough jumping out of bed in the a.m. to be a Tri Delta. She discovered there was a lot more to these young women than their appearance and kept them as one of her choices until she had to limit her choices to the final three.

She would probably tell you to go into recruitment with an open mind, not basing it on ANY stereotypes you have heard beforehand or that you form the first two days.

My impression of recruitment is that it can be a pretty stressful week. Don't make it more stressful forming opinions in advance.
