Do you know how we can check the status of bills in the Congress? Is there a website or other online source for the public? I'm interested in seeing that it has been officially voted down (for my own information).

First check the link I posted above. You can track bills at the: www.senate.gov and www.house.gov sites listed in the email you received--just follow the links once you get to the sites. Also your state website probably has links to the federal sites.
