Often, the known is better than the unknown. During the Cold War, we were never "pleased" that a Russian ruler had died because we didn't know who would take over and how they would lead. Don't assume things will be better without Arafat... things will initially be MORE unstable than they have been and, eventually, could be MUCH worse.
