Lucas and Nathan were enemies, now friends. Dan was the enemy, and maybe he's coming around now. Brooke and Peyton were friends, then rivals, then they're friends again. So many things happened in just the first season alone, I really don't see how the show will keep its appeal without something juicy.

IMO, the show does not have to be "juicy" but interesting. I watch the OC when I want what you seen to be referring to as "juicy"...I don't need OTH to be its carbon copy.
Personally, I don't think Brooke and Peyton's friendship is boring at all. I think the crazy stuff Brooke tries to get Peyton into is fun and worth watching.
