Same deal - I was the rush crush of one of the more influential seniors. It helped that I had seen her hanging on a rugby player who was up on the bar mooning everyone at some seashore dive Labor Day weekend, and had told her that as far as I was concerned, the whole thing had never happened and Mr Rugby seemed like a very nice guy.
Also there was a lot of criticism because I had dated someone with a terrible reputation, and she had dated the same guy the previous summer. She reminded everyone that if they cut all the girls Playerboy had ever gone out with, they might as well forget making quota.
[I lead a nice, quiet boring life now, but needless to say, college was something of a soap opera.....]
