Discipline needs to be used on children or else they grow up not knowing boundaries and the consequences of their actions.
My parents were old school so spankings were part of the drill. I knew not to act up because that meant pain pure and simple. All my parents needed to do was give me "the look" and I knew not to act up.
It's funny to watch my cousins use the time outs with their kids. That's because I know that their grandma would have taken matters into her hands.
