This was the same situation I was in, I just accepted a sales assistant position at a media marketing firm. All throughout my interview process they basically spelled out that I'm over qualified but that they don't have any other vacancies. I accepted the not so great paying position and was told to look forward to the opportunity of moving into an account executive position in a years time.

I checked ad agencies in the area and felt I was under qualified, but I know I will be great at my job once I learn the business. My firm does television marketing and I have done stuff with print media and radio so I kind of need to learn the business a little.

So take what you can get, theres nothing written in stone as to how long you have to stay there. The economy is picking up so in a few months you could have tons of options. But I know I don't want to keep waiting tables till something better comes.

It's never "settling" unless you think it is!
My 6th grade teacher once wrote me a letter and in it was this quote which I have used many times:

The rungs of the ladder of success are not meant to be rested on, but to support us until we are able to climb higher.

Think of it as a quick breather
