used printer cartridges?

Has anyone tried one of the fundraisers where you collect and send in used ink cartridges? How well did it go?

I don't see how profitable it could be..... how much do you get for each cartridge?

It's not something people have laying around, and they don't go through them very quickly, so it just seems like it would be a bust.

Also, each company is now putting recycling envelopes in the inket cartridge boxes, so it's much easier to send them back to the manufacturer for recycling.

I've never heard of this.

I know this is an old thread, but we do this at the Ball State Fiji Chapter. It doesn't raise a lot of money, I couldn't even give you a figure, but it raises a little at a time and is good to have as an ongoing thing. We go through a company called The Funding Factory (www.fundingfactory.com) which collects empty ink cartridges and cell phones. They provide the boxes and shipping labels so all the chapter has to do is collect. I recommend hanging flyers or putting up collection boxes on campus.

OfficeMax has it now where you can turn in a used printer cartridge for a ream of paper. Not really profit, but can really help costs.
