Kind of off topic, but does anyone have any stats on just how much of a divider social issues like abortion and gay marriage are? I honestly didn't think that those were real dividing lines between the parties anymore.

I think that social issues are definitely dividing lines between parties. Conservative social issues drew me to the Republican party to begin with. I couldn't identify with the views that I heard Democratic candidates speak in support of.
