Mrs. Peterson, my aforementioned third grade teacher, was one of those really cool teachers who took us on a LOT of field trips, and taught us "different" things. I can tell people around here who had her for third grade because every one of us knew our dinosaurs by genus & species!!

Anyway, she was old then, but fast forward to a few years ago, at my aunt's funeral. I introduced myself, telling her my name, my family, when I had her as a teacher - you know, all the things that you're supposed to tell a former teacher so they don't feel dumb. She started raphsodizing over what a wonderful student I was, a joy to teach, such a quick learner.... and then she turned to my sister-in-law (who grew up thousands a miles away in Alaska) and said, "And you were too, dear!" Oh, well...!

I crack up every time I think of that!!
