So anything to help bring Hogwarts and the wizarding world to Sacramento is greatly appreciated. It's for the kids of course. You can PM me if you would like.
The Nimbus 3000 Symposium has information on its Quidditch match. The rules are posted and everything. Sounds like fun if you have the room and enough people to do it.

Since this is pretty much the default Harry Potter thread, I feel the need to post two things here:

1. LESS THAN 28 DAYS UNTIL HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

2. i won't be able to read my book when it comes out!!!!!!!

So Delta was having a sale on flights to Atlanta. My best friend moved to ATL for grad school so I always jump at the chance to go visit, so when it was cheap, I bought the ticket to go see her for her bday. Last night, I told my mom, who says, "isn't that the weekend harry potter comes out". I went cold. the color drained from my face. I ran to the computer...sure enough, I will be in Atlanta the weekend HPHBP comes out.

I've had the book pre-ordered since the DAY the release date was announced.

And if I buy the book in Altanta, I'll spend the second half of the trip ignoring my friend, so I can't do that!!!! AAAAHHH!!

This means I will have to avoid ALL discussions of the book until the week after it comes out.

I had to vent...back to your Harry Potter Thread.

DolphinChica, I'll avoid the discussions with you (probably - there's always a chance I'll say "screw spoiling - I just wanna know!" )...my diamond sister is getting married the beginning of August, and I'm flying out there on July 27th, so I have a long travel day that I'm planning to use to read HP6

I'm going to have a late start on the book as well. My cousins both graduated this year and are having their party on the 16th... about 2 hours away from where my book is being delivered. Since Amazon has a tendency to leave boxes on my apartment doorstep and not with my manager, I didn't want to take chances. So I reserved a copy of the book at the local Borders and got a midnight pass to pick it up. So we'll see how long it takes me to read it.

What do you think'll happen to the Dursleys once Harry graduates from Hogwarts and lives in the wizarding world? Will they just sever ties or will they eventually accept him and end things on a good note? Petunia's been getting soft in the last couple books, I don't think she could ever really turn her back on him, d'ya think?

I'm so excited for Book #6!!!! My boyfriend is trying to get it for me a few days early, which would be even cooler. I will have a loooooong flight to Hawaii at the end of July, so I'm happy I'll have something to read.

Unless Voldemort completely dies for good in book 7, there's no way that the Dursleys could cast Harry out. In book 5, Dumbledore explains to Harry that since his mother's blood was shed trying to save his, her blood protects him. Since Petunia is his mother's only living relative, it's important that he goes to Privet Drive at least once a year and calls it "home," because for as long as he does that, Voldemort can't hurt him.

It also depends if Harry actually lives to see his graduation. Yes, I know it's a long shot... but you never know.

I see Harry dying. But I see it as a big battle between him and Voldemort right at the end of book 7.

I can see Harry dying at the very end of book 7 just so that there will be no more hopes for a sequel.

I am trying to think whether I read this or heard this on the JK Rowling Biography but I think she wraps all thatfuture speculation up at the end of book 7. The final chapter is what happens to everyone. As for sequel, I would love for her to write Hogwarts: A History

I am going to the Potter party at my local Borders with my niece on the evning of the 15th . Anybody else going to one?

I think it's because his scar disapears after he (and others) kill Moldy Voldie.

Something like, "Harry, where's your scar?"
