That being said I would assume that as a member of the Greek community you would be interested in promoting Greek life, not contributing to the continuous negative stereotypes. By saying that a particular organization has a 'long history of hazing' is just 1) going to aggravate members of that organization (which is a valid response in my opinion); 2) make the discussion not about the particular incident but about the aggravation of the orgs members (and those who feel like fueling the fire) and 3) encourage the stereotypes that most of us are trying to overcome. Further, any random person can read this board and unless your opinion is on IM, e-mail, PM or something there are billions of people who can read your comment.
I think the response by the members of Pike is perfectly valid and they are just defending their org like any of us would do when such a overgeneralizing and irrelevant statement is made. Although I think we would all be better served if we all just think about what we say before we say it. Remember the Golden Rule? Yes, everything we need to know we learned in pre-school.
