Check out the forum on this board called "Up and coming GLO's" - that might be what you are looking for. You have support from other chapters but can still be a large part of the foundation of a national organization.

Like Pike4Life said, it depends on the school. Locals can get everything from a warm welcome to total hostility from the administration & students alike.
