What sort of shadiness? If you're having these Coke dates to interest women in your chapter, and they want to join and you want them, I think you should be allowed to offer them a bid contingent upon their grades at the end of the term. I guess it would remove someone from the NPC formal recruitment in the spring, but if it's informal recruitment, there shouldn't be rules imposed.
