I so remember listening to the Houston Oilers song on my old record player. The record was floppy and colored Oilers blue! It was great.

I am a native Texan and damn proud of it! I want to get the "native Texan" license plate. I have tried to trace my roots to see if I could be in the Daughter's of the Republic of Texas, but haven't had alot of luck finding all the info I need. Any ideas?

I have to say that I got all choked up reading some of the previous posts. I have lived in different parts of the state and really have loved anywhere that I have lived, even with the humidity. I never want to live anywhere else. I would if I had to, but Texas is large enough so why should I have to? To tell you the truth, I think that this is my favorite thread I've come across on GC!

I love all the rivalries between all the different groups. I love driving for 10 hours and still being in the same state - however, it did make it difficult as a child driving from the Valley to Dallas! I love that fact that we can fly our flag as high as the US flag. I love our history. I love the friendly waves I get and give from/to old cowboys while traveling on highways. I love how we have all types of people and all types of towns/cities. I love going to the Alamo - I swear, my husband and I go down there as often as tourists - and walking in a place where heros died for the state.

I truly can't put into words how much I love this state! My husband was born in Alabama and he acts like his state has just as much pride as Texas, but I know that he can't hang!

Oh and the comments about big hair, I can think of many other states where women have hair just as big or bigger than certain women in our state.

I really could go on all night but I really must get some sleep. I'm glad that I found this thread...
