I went to a large state school as a freshman with no opinion one way or another on the Greek system. I realized early on I was going back to Texas to a smaller school. While at the large school I was informally rushed but told them I was transferring. So when I did transfer, I went through rush and pledged.
Not only was it a good experience overall, the lasting friendships still endure. Also, I became very active as an alum for many years....you can participate long after you graduate.
