I started getting my hair highlighted in high school. I always went to the salon except once I wanted to try myself... well that didnt work so well. I have fairly dark brown hair. I tried to go lighter blonde and realized I have a lot of red in my hair bc thats the color that came out. While some people liked it.. I on the other hand hated it. So now I have gone back to having just light brown highlights in my hair. I dont think I will ever try it myself again bc i have such dark hair and its so noticable when you dont do it correct.
Plus I think it could be the salon you are going to .. try somewhere else next time.. the woman who does mine doesnt charge nearly that much and takes a lot of time to make sure the color matchs really good..
