I could be wrong, but I don't think she's adopted.
I don't know much about Paris beyond THE VIDEO, but I saw an interview with Nicole on E! a few days ago and she seems like a very funny, charming young woman. So either she was acting in the interview I saw or creative license was taken with the editing by the procuders of Simple Life!
One thing I thought was cute is Nicole has a tattoo of a pair of toe shoes on her hip in honor of the sone "Ballerina Girl" that her father wrote for her
