ADPi has not had a colony at FGCU....I did some checking with some fellow ADPis, and the only colony we've had in the recent years is one at Rockhurst University
Hope this helps!

Greek Life as a whole seems to have perked up alot since my chapter was started. Greek Life at my school had a bad reputation because of some bad stuff that happened in the last few years. Alot of chapters were getting small and not alot of girls were going through recruitment. To alot of girls it didn't seem like there was alot of diversity in the chapters. (which is not true because I have alot of friends in other chapters and they are very diverse.) My chapter starting and being so large did not make a huge impact on most of the other chapters. It made recruitment more competitive (which was needed at my school) and seemed to get more girls aware and interested. So it all seems to be working out for the best.

lilkel,
Are all of the chapters you mentioned still at your school? The school website did not list all of the ones you did. I was just curious.

no offense to lilkel's school, but I think that area of the website looks pretty sucky, so I wouldn't take what it says as gospel.

No thats not all of the sororites. My school is really bad about updateing stuff like the website and keeping stuff up. There is supposed to me a Greek info page...they hired some guy to make one like a year ago......but as you can see there is nothing yet. All the sororities I listed are still there and the two smaller ones grew alot in fall recruitment so now everyone is doing much better.

Tom, thanks for checking .....I heard that the colony wasn't doing too well, so I don't know if the colony is still there or not
Hopefully someday we can recolonize at Pitt State U and get the ADPi's to hang out with the LXA's

anyway I think sororities in the south must be so diffferent from the north
|
as a gdi (would that me my legitimate title?), i can definitely tell that. is that a good or bad thing? seems life greek life is more like the way of life on southern college campuses
also the difference between NPC and NPHC is mind-boggling. its like remembering a contract, word for word.
not knocking the greeks at all. just giving my opinion.

this is kinda unrelated, and i appologize if this has been mentioned before, but i think one way for the "smaller" GLOs to be more well known is during the new member period. We all learn about our national org and the history of our chapter, but usually the only other glos that are known are the ones on our campus or ones our friends are in. i personally wanted to know as much as i could about all 25 other npc sororities when i pledged. i can name all 25 other sororities and some basic facts about them... i know more about some than others, but still. i think if more emphasis was placed on National Panhellenic (or whatever your governing body may be), that would bring about more knowledge and understanding for the smaller orgs (so you dont have people ask a DPhiE if they're a local sorority, etc) and a better understanding for what sororities as a whole stand for. just my $.02.
edited for spelling.

I think this is a *great* idea! I remember from my Alpha Education period, all we learned was that there were the 26 members of the NPC....and then we listed the members of the NPC that were on our campus....I didn't know the names of the other 19 organizations until I joined GC three years later!

i agree. way back when, i was under the impression every college had their own sororities, and assuming they were all local. i assumed the first org i knew about, dphie, was just at nyu. wasnt i wrong!

I was the exact opposite...I never even heard of a local sorority or fraternity until well after I became a member of my own GLO. I just assumed that every school had national groups. When my stepdad was telling me about the local fraternity he was in, it just didn't click...I kept asking, "But what fraternity were you in?" because it wasn't anything that I recognized as IFC. I figured it out once I came on here, but boy, I had a hard time coming to that realization.
