USC played a virtually identical schedule last year and had the TOUGHEST schedule in the nation. We did not know that traditional powers/good teams like Notre Dame, BYU, Auburn, U Washington were not going to live up to expectations, NOR should we be punished for it, since we beat them and beat them the way a team superior to them should-- By 20+ points. If we squeaked out our wins in a conference that was suffering this year, your argument might have merit, but we blew everyone away and are just as good a team, if not better, than LSU and Oklahoma. The people who know such things think so, and I don't know why everyone can't just sit back and accept the fact that USC is a great team.
And for the record, we had a dry spell with some coaching difficulties in the 90s--that decade notwithstanding--we have one of the consistently strongest programs and traditions of any school.

1) Last year, is last year. But this year is this year, and USC played a joke schedule this year. Their record is therefore tainted.
2) USC schedules NO team consistently in the Top 10 outside of the PAC-10, and the PAC-10 rarely has teams consistently in the Top 10 at the end of a season. Now USC pays the price. Justice is served.
