You have the rest of your life to live in your own apartment or house.
You only have a very short time to get this sort of experience and bonding with your sisters.
It drove me nuts now and then, but it was also incredibly fun and I echo the sentiments that it enables you to learn a lot about dealing with people, sharing, patience, and yourself! It's also nice to be able to roll out in your PJs to turn in something or go to committee meeting, etc.
