hehehe...

My husband has an ex-girlfriend who's a real psycho b!tch. I had the misfortune of knowing her because she desperately wanted to be in my sorority, came to rush twice and didn't get a bid either time (thank goodness). He'd broken up with her, and she never got over it. I was in the sorority she desperately wanted into, and she believed I had stolen him (note: a year and a half went by between his dumping her and his starting to date me), so I'm not exactly her favorite person in the world.

I enrolled in a certain discussion class during my graduate year. My husband and I were engaged at the time. Anyway, who should be in the class but psycho b!tch.

During one class session, we were discussing the issue of medical privacy. We were presented with a hypothetical situation of an engaged couple where he was a carrier of a genetic disease and hadn't told his fiancee, and she found out by accident.

Psycho b!tch got up and said, "I was in a similar situation with an ex-boyfriend of mine. When he found out I had Crohn's disease, he told me he couldn't be the father of children with Crohn's, and he dumped me." The context made it clear to me that she was taking a stab at Mr. aephi alum. Her statement was patently untrue. Crohn's is nasty business, but he took good care of her, took her to the hospital a number of times and so on. He didn't dump her because she had Crohn's, he dumped her because she's a PSYCHO B!TCH!

So I calmly raised my hand, was called on, and said sweetly, "I think what he [guy in hypothetical couple] did was wrong. You should be able to share anything in a relationship." (This made my statement relevant to the class discussion.) "I'm engaged myself, and I know that my fiance and I would be completely honest with each other if we had any genetic diseases, and that if that were the case we'd work through the problem rather than just calling off the wedding. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, [psycho b!tch], but I'm happy to be engaged to a man who would never do something like that, to anybody."

So I was able to get my jab in while being sweet and ladylike. No one in the class who didn't know us, even knew there was a subcontext in my comment. She couldn't come up with a retort for the life of her.

Catty? Yes, but sooo sweet
