funny thread

A few phrases I hear (most I get from my younger sister)

"thirsty" --someone real anxious for information or something. As in "Get outta my business. Why you so thirsty?"

"Bama" -- referring to someone country in their ways. "Youse a straight Bama, ain't you?" (No disrespect to Alabama folks; my parents and lots of my family are from there.)

someone drunk is "on tilt"-- Policeman stops a weaving car, approaches the driver and goes "dang, you on tilt, ain't you, playa?"

Pimp--somehow this is a term of friendly endearment. When you see you boy you might say "What up, you big ole pimp?" (usually with an exaggerated pronunciation -- "peeemp")

grape busted -- to get a haircut; "I'm 'bout to get my grape busted"

"love come down" -- I think this is more a southern colloquiolism, heard from older family members; I think it has to do with doin' the do....."he made her love come down" Of course, hearing this from the old folks, I really wasn't tryin' to get the inside story.

"courtin" (pronounced coatin') --another family colloquioslism for dating. "Girl, he coatin' heavy..."

"nose open" -- whipped. as in "Dude, she got your nose wide open."

...I'm just realizing how country me people is. If I get more, I'll be back.
