I'm having a hard time with this race thing. Just because your skin is light or dark does not mean you are the same. It's not about race....it's about culture!

Culture is really the only thing that sets everyone apart. Culture shapes the way you think and act, maybe the majority of the members of BGLO's came from the same cultural background and find it easier to unite and uphold their beliefs. It's a lot harder to unite and uphold beliefs when everyone has different views and backgrounds (culture again).

My sorority seems to find alot of conflict within itself, yes it has different skin colors, but the differences are in everyone's culture. I think that's the problem we have uniting and having a lot of pride. It seems sometimes to be about conforming and not understanding. I think I questioned too many things (not necessarily opposed to it, just for a rationalization of their actions), getting shot down all the time instead of answering my question has led me to be disillusioned with the group. I still love my sisters, but I don't feel that same level of unity anymore.

I applaude ANY GLO that has so much unified pride, but chances are it's because you all have similar views on how it should be run and you agree with most of the history of actions. Is this making any sense or did I just go off on 10 different tangents? Sorry, I haven't had my morning shot of caffiene yet!

Don't get me wrong, I still have pride in the sorority and the history of what it stands for, I just don't feel united with the current members. Just some things to think about. I'm not looking for a fight, just showing where my lessened feelings of unity come from.
