Your'e absolutely rigth about overextension of credit. My sister is in a shitload of trouble with 5 maxed out cards of which my dad told her when she got them he wasnt goingt o help her if she got in trouble.
this is why i dont have a credit card currently. however i'm graduate in december so i'll probably have one soon to build credit, but one is all i need for emergencies, not clothes and make up etc.
