I don't want this to get into an abortion rights/pro life discussion, but I think the reason is that most abortion activists/liberals feel that doing so would put the nation on a slippery slope to overturning Roe v. Wade. If the government can tell you you can't "harm" your baby with drugs, why can't they tell you you can't harm your baby with the saliene (sp?) solution or suction they use in abortions?
