Now the talent.

Well Florida rocked. I thought her elephant collection is adorable.

California, well, she kind of sucked. I say this as politely as possible, but from a person who has been singing since I was 10, she was really bad at the end.

Maryland: I'm liking so far that she is doing a somewhat 'different song'. Plus I'm loving the outfit she is wearing.

Wisconsin: already lovin her talent. I'm all for someone who isn't a singer and I mean no offense to singers, but it seems like the contestants are always singers. I just wanna yell 'find a new talent'. LOL.

Hawaii: what the hell was up with the middle of her song? What's up with the Mariah ending? Woah.

Erika Crowns Ericka

I wonder why sororities don't post member who are in national pageants? I know we are ALL SPECIAL but it would be cool to cheer for a sister! Dumb PR move by not listing, if you ask me.
Congrats to Florida Ericka, but I loved Miss America 2003--a graduate of the most awesome University of Illinois!

I wonder if Miss New Hampshire ever did work as an import car model?

She strongly emphasized that she loooooves import car shows.

Hmmm...?

Probably because of the anti-pagent feelings that came to a peak a few years ago, when they were considered sexist.

That's when they suddenly began emphasizing that they are "scholarship" competitions instead of "beauty" contests.

I think that it's great Miss Florida won-I don't watch these things but it's fun sometimes to see how people get into this. However, I was reading some of the posts on the Yahoo! message board and some of them are just plain hateful! Why are some people such haters??? You would think that in 2003, some of the rude and inappropriate comments and feelings would be gone, but not so...how very sad...

Congrats to Miss Florida/Miss America 2004! I'm glad she won. I'm also glad Miss Hawaii made 1st runner up. I loved her high note at the end of "Natural Woman". You know she's been listening to some Mariah. I thought the show was just ok this year. Not that entertaining. Tom Bergeron and that male commentator should never do the show again. I usually like Lynda Lopez but not tonight. Was that viewing party necessary? Was the casual outfit contest necessary? I think not.

congrats to ericka...her proud parents (nice move to have them meet her at the end of the runway) and delta sigma theta.
as per the production, the viewing party was a disaster, the emcee should never do it again, and the male color commentator banished. at least find someone who can sing "the song" and at least give the winner a rose. it was cool that she picked up a flower on the runway.
have a wonderful year, ericka.

We were friendly with the Glickman family about 8-10 years ago, when Candace was still in middle school. Our local paper has covered her in such detail, but hasn't mentioned her being a car model. I think Candace has been too busy competing in local pageants and being a UNH student. Her younger sister won one of the preliminaries this year, so maybe we'll see another Miss NH in the top 10 in a few years. I loved seeing her dad, Ron, in his dress uniform escort her in the evening gown segment.

First, congratulations to Miss Florida!!!!! She was great and my second pick.

My first pick was Miss Maryland, not just because that's my state, but because I knew her in high school days. I think she did incredibly. I was SOOOOO pruod of her. I, and aparently everyone else in Atlantic City, thought she should have placed WAY higher than 3rd runner up. I was rooting for her and Miss Florida to be the top 2 followed by Hawaii, California and Wisconsin (she messed up playing her cello several times).

It's sad about Miss Wisconsin, though. Her dad lost out on his organ because he was at the Miss Wisconsin pageant. Then he died.

I was thinking the same thing. She didn't have a septor or a flower or anything. I thought she was supposed to get a bouquet of flowers or something. She looked great though and her face was classic. I feel like a fan. I met her in Georgia this summer and took a picture -- shooo, she that crown is the same as her Miss Florida crown, I don't need to get another picture.

I'm so excited that a UCF student is now Miss America!

A couple of my friends who are friends with her went to Atlantic City for the competition (they got tickets through their fraternity alum who run the competition or something). I have to get the scoop from them when they come back.

She did great during the competition!!
