Ok, I am stepping onto the soapbox now.
The game should be LSU vs. USC.
The rational is that Oklahoma got stomped by the then #13 ranked team and so they don't deserve to be in the Championship Game.
I don't understand how Georgia drops from #5 to #11 when they were beat by the #3 team, and Oklahoma drops from #1 to #3 when they were beaten by the #13 team by a larger margin.
Also how did they get 8 1st place votes after that loss?
The reason a late season loss hurts more than an early season loss is that your team should be better later in the season as they should have the kinks worked out.
Instead of USC fans being mad that LSU is in the Sugar Bowl, they should be mad that Oklahoma is in it. LSU deserves to be there USC deserves to be there, but Oklahoma should have fallen further in the polls than they did, which would have caused them to not be there.
On a sidenote if Georgia wouldn't have fallen so far in the polls they would have given LSU a larger margin over USC in the BCS as they would have been given quality of win points.
I am now stepping off the soapbox.
-Mark
Please Oklahoma fans don't bash me, I'm a Notre Dame fan and so I really don't care who wins the National Championship.

Good point that was a jip. But oh well maybe because it gave us 3 losses even though it was the SEC championship game

LSU gets in only because they beat a Georgia team that they already beat once. I'm not so sure LSU could beat Florida or Tennessee. USC shouldn't get punished because they don't have a confrerence title game. If the SEC didn't have one, LSU would be going elsewhere. Thats also why I still like OU in the game, they won their regular season crown like SC did.

what regular season crown? best record doesnt mean the best in the conference, i dont care if ya want to admit it or not, ou lost to k state, in fact, got blown out, and k state is plain and simply the best of the big 12, thats why theres a title game, if the pac 10 had one, then they probably wouldve won it and been pac 10 champs like some other conferences have. bottom line, in the big 12 the regular season crown goes to the winner of the big 12 title game, so the regular season crown goes to k state.

I agree it should be USC - LSU in Sugar. I think that would be an amazing game.

that's what everyone here (baton rouge) thinks, too. at least all of my friends, and we're big football fans. then we would have a REAL game to look forward to, instead of all this "if bleh wins, but blah loses, and blech wins, then..."

Exactly Moxie. LSU has such a great defense and USC has such a great offense--it would be a fun game to watch... and when you compare the team stats (as ABC was doing all last weekend) of LSU and USC--they are amazingly similar. Would have been a great matchup.
And I think your coach has handled it all with a lot of class.

All three teams have an argument to be in and all three have an argument not to be there. Its funny to me how the best team in the country isn't playing in the title game. This one will be debated for ages.
The big question is, will they do anything to fix the system? If so, what do they do? I don't see a playoff system anytime soon since there are so many bowl games out there that they don't want to get rid of.

Well if Michgan happens to beat USC I don't think the debate will be as bad. If they can't beat number 4 how could they beat 2 and 3? If USC loses that game it might just make people think the BCS was right. USC must win to keep their complaint legit. I know the USC fans think they will kill Michigan but I am sure Oklahoma said the same thing when the knew that they would play K -State. Also since USC lost to unranked Cal anything is possible.

I'd like to see a playoff system like every other division has. But even then the team sthat missed out would complain about not getting in but still, it would be cool to see.

Here's the reason people hate USC:
USC= the University of Spoiled Children, and apparently spoiled football players.
Until you play a conference championship, I don't think you belong in a National Title game...

kstar-
I've got news for you- ONLY CONFERENCES WITH 12 TEAMS PLAY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS. So by your extremely biased statement (which, being from Okla you are entitled to like I am to mine about SC)-- the Big 12 and SEC and next year ACC are the only ones who could send teams to the Nat'l Championship.
We don't NOT play a conf championship because we're spoiled, its the NCAA rule.
And I will maintain the reason people hate USC is jealousy. Yes we're cocky, yes we're arrogant. Step one foot onto our campus and feel the spirit that lives there, and you'd understand why we have every right to love our school and promote it passionately.
