Yeah, Guelph would normally do this too (take my $300 when I request a room, and don't give it back when I find some place else...the cheap b******s!)
Anyhoo, Guelph put the students in hotel rooms that had been guaranteed a spot in the new residence but they weren't complete. If you didn't have a spot because you sent in your res. app. late or it was full then it was your responsibility to find your own accomodation.
