I always sing at concerts. I'm usually not louder than the band, but I am pretty loud. I'm going to see John Mayer on Saturday with my mom, and she told me that she hates it when people sing at concerts and that I should not sing at this one. I told her that probably wasn't going to happen, but that I would try to be quiet. The thing is, I think it's kind of disrespectful when people don't sing at concerts because it makes them seem like they're not really into the show. Most bands that I've seen encourage the audience to sing along. When I saw BonJovi in March, Jon started singing "Livin' on a Prayer" and then stopped, letting the audience sing for awhile. Afterwards, he said "That is the coolest thing in the world." I think that about sums it up---how cool is it for these musicians to hear thousands of people singing along to a song that they wrote? Plus, I've been to concerts where no one was really singing and it just killed the vibe for other people who were really into it.
