I am also a web professional and currently maintaining my chapters website and agree with everything mentioned above. Dont forget your alums - they are great resources and if they have web experience its even better. I dont have a ton of time to spend on some of our activities, so my contribution back to the chapter is doing their website.
Also, along the same lines as not putting up tons of photos of drinking and risque behavior, before adding any photos on the website, make sure you have the permission of the people in them. What I did was set up a box in our suite marked "website photos" and explained that I wanted photos to scan to put up on their site. The girls wrote their names on the back of the photos (so they could get them back) and dropped them in a box with permission to use them online. The only reason I think this is important is not everyone wants their face on a website and would like to remain private. Good luck and PM me if you (or anyone) needs me!
