I do not believe in organized religion as anything but a social system. I don't believe in reincarnation. I don't believe in some ultimate malignant force labeled as the Devil. The Devil is in man- it's in the evil that we do to each other, not something to be anthropomorphicized. I believe that there is a higher power/creation force- I feel this very strongly. I grew up weaving in and out of toooo many different denominations for me to believe that any of them have the right/all of the right idea.
The belief system that has always appealed the most to me is the Buddhist concept of Nirvana- our souls leaving us to become one is a great ideal to me (Although maybe that's just because Herman Hesse's Siddartha is one of my favorite books). I dont know that it's true, but it feels right. The idea that we have to be reincarnated to reach that point....is interesting but once again, not something I can believe in.
