all this talk about DC is making me sad - I am an alum who used to work at the State Dept in DC -- that's my last assignment before I retired in 1998 -- I loved working in downtown DC!! I used to live in Fairfax Station: shopped, went to church and used child care at Ft Belvoir; helped our Gamma Phi chapter at GMU; frequently ate out at the many many wonderful restaurants in NoVa & DC; shopped and saw movies at Pentagon City and Crystal City....the museums were fabulous and the METRO was great... I loved watching the fireworks from the Mall (I was there the last year they allowed alcohol on the Mall --YAH!)....sigh....wish we could have stayed there....
I love DC!
