Agreed.
That said, however, I'm very much against the death penalty. If he's guilty, I'm all for locking him up in a very small cell-- possibly in Antarctica-- with nothing to do but think about what he's done. However, I will be sad if he does get a death sentence.
The scary thing is that this isn't as rare as we'd like to think. An acquaintence of mine was attacked by her boyfriend last month. He stabbed her sixteen times in the abdomen because he
thought she was pregnant with someone else's child (she wasn't pregnant at all). She lost a lot of blood, but the doctors were able to repair the damage and physically she's okay now.
People are just unstable!
