I totally feel you on this one. I'm the oldest of two girl children. My sister would always do something that caused ME to get in trouble. My parents would always say that because I was the oldest, I was supposed to be more responsible, and be an example for my sister. I was also supposed to stop her from taking the wrong actions.
At the time, I didn't understand this "system", but now I do. As the more experienced sibling, it is my responsibility to look out for my sister..to make certain that she doesn't fall to similar mistakes. I try to share with my sister mistakes I've made, as well as wisdom learned, so that she can choose the best choice for her.
Being the oldest can be kinda tough. As children, it meant that I would receive punishment for her errs. As an adult, its different. As adults, we try to make sure that if one another has had a certain experience, that we responsibly inform the other of the best way to navigate in those circumstances.
