I am a little confused.

Is Omicron Psi Omega a female version of the Ques? I looked through the Beta site and I was amazed by the line names : Droopy, Care Bear, Da Bouncer, Nasti and Jaz-ee. As my ism says that ain't cute. I can understand the need for the organizations but enough is enougn. I can agree with the pictures.......one word Tacky!!!

and Beta Phi Omega, i'm sure they are a great org. but the poses in a few of the pix...they really don't put their sorority in the best light.
okay, i may sound like a snob but i'm not the alone, i'm sure
I agree totally this is supposed to be "national" site and they have all kinds of music and graphics and things. I mean I wouldn't be apart of a organization who is play R Kelly's Ignition remix or any other song for that matter. Save that for a chapter site. To sum it all up you have pics of your sorors with their legs gapped open. OMG! Get a grip for real! They need to take a class in National Sorority Websites 101.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't believe that R. Kelly is the appropriate background for any organization, except maybe an R. Kelly fan club, to have on their national website. They also have the "Kang Wang" by Khia playing on the pictures page. We talked about that song on the dances thread.

I am also kind of skeptical about the amount of community service that they do. Everyone talks about their commitment to community service, but I have yet to see them in the Tallahassee community or even have them describe what it is that they do on their website. If you say you're about service, then be about it. Don't put it on your website because you think you should or because that's what other sororities do.

just wondering

Is Omicron Psi Omega a female version of the Ques? I think this is supposed to be their brother organization? If so they need to get it together. I mean it's one thing to want to be different but it's another to steal from an organization that's already established. Then the site is tacky. Can we say get it together.

i think they wanted to "be" Ques. not to be funny but seriously, they like their image.
they may very well do some community service. perhaps what they do is listed in the gay-themed newspapers. i would think their events are geared towards the gay community. we "straights" wouldn't know about what they do unless we worked closely with their community or read their periodicals.

Talking

Beta Phi Omega apparently lacks originality as do there brothers. I was doing a search to get to there site again and guess what Beta Phi Omega was actually a fraternity founded in 1967. You can view the orginial organization at
www.betaphiomega.com. I wonder if these ladies know they are using someone elses name?

I looked at the site...and I didn't see any listed community service It just looks like they get together and socialize. I might be wrong, but...that's what they are putting out there.

I can only wish them the best. I wonder why they haven't expanded up to Atlanta. We have a pretty prominent LGBT populaton here, but how well would they do?

I totally agree that Beta could be a really good organization. But as I continue to view their site I see alot of things that seem to be very stupid and idiotic. Like all these chapters that have 1 person in them. How is that possible? Do they just give anyone a chapter? Gamma_girl52 I doubt they would be able to prosper with expansion practices like that.

Then moving on to their member roster, their collective and individual line names that have nothing to do with each other. I second the emotion of Royal Rage I wouldn't want half of those line names on there. I definitely wouldn't pay money to have that on a shirt. (Maybe that is just me!

Can someone tell me what Distinct Inc. is? I saw that on the Omicron Psi Omega site. Guess that is it for right now. But I am still researching!

That's a good point, I was just wondering though. It really doesn't seem organized at all. It just looks like a social-type thing going on.

I wasn't even aware of this organization, I only knew about Omicron Epsilon Pi which is also based out of Tally. There was a thread about it once upon a time on GC.

Yeah I read that thread. That organization is very interesting as well. I am going to see if I can find that thread for all those who want to see. I think their site is http://www.oepi.com . I haven't been there in a while so I am going to see if they changed any thing.

when i saw their site i was thinking the same thing. i remembered meeting Omega Pearls--when they were 'legit'--back in the day and i recall one girl saying that she pledged so hard that they should give her more than just Pearl status. she looked very manly and probably was 'in the life'. this type of thinking probably is what sparked this type of organization.

the things some folks will do just to belong.

If you are homosexual and want to start your own org. More power to you. Go for it! JUST BE ORIGINAL. Don't claim to be something you know nothing about, don't understand and didn't earn the right of membership to.

As for Tally-ho when I was there a buzz of more people comming out of the closet was abreast. It wasn't many (then) but I know they had "Gay Night" @ club Park Ave every week. The whole campus was a buzz when people learned of this!

Just to answer your question

I found out that Distinct Inc is the gay male version of Delta Sigma Theta. From the information that I have received Distinct members wear Delta nalia and have adopted as much as Delta Sigma Theta as possible.
As far Omicron Psi Omega is concerned......I have nothing else to say. I reviewed the Beta site once again and I can't find anything positive to say about this organization. Maybe I could if the website wasn't so tasteless. Who has Khia playing on thier site? Sometimes you can over do it.

Well, I was driving through campus today and noticed that one of the streets has been adopted by Beta Phi Omega. I have yet to see or hear of any events that they have hosted on campus but because this street runs right through our campus, I must assume that their members go to FAMU. I'll keep a look out for them.

Re: Re: Re: I feel you!

For some reason, Honey is spamming me with old copies of their magazine! (I thought they were defunct) I got their November 2003 issue in the mail the other day and there is an article titled "Young, Black and Lesbian".

Anyway, Beta Phi Omega is mention quite a bit in the article (it was talking about sorority life and why the need to have a lesbian-interest sorority).
