I guess I'm a little confused?! Are these actual pledges or are they random people? And furthermore, where are they getting the key chains and stuff? Is it from the campus book store?

I mean in reality there is no solution. Just as people get on Ebay and buy sorority pins from an organization in which they didn't belong, you can't prohibit these people from buying your letters.

Ultimately you can stop pledges from wearing or owning letters but really if it's someone else, that's hard to do. I guess they are just wanna be's and really (in my opinion) look dumb for owning letters to an organization that they're not a part of.

Here is a solution though that COULD make a difference.

For one, see if anyone that is Greek is a Journalism major and ask them to write a piece on what it means to be greek and wear the letters. Have them include something to the extent of seeing others walking around campus with letters to organizations they don't belong to and how weird that is. Of course only put it in good terms because you would not want to offend anyone so that they wouldn't want to become Greek in the future. This could be served as positive PR yet a way for those who are guilty of this to question why they're wearing or owning these letters.
